Come One, Come All is Don Freeman’s illustrated autobiography from 1949. Published by Rinehart & Company, Inc. Freeman is the famous children’s book illustrator and creator of the Corduroy books. He also self-published a journal of his art Newsstand. Below, pictured here, is Skitzy, originally self-published and later posthumously published by Canadian comics published Drawn and Quarterly.

Don Freeman was born in California, and came to New York to study at the Art Students League. He became known for his theatrical drawings for the Herald-Tribune and the New York Times and for other newspapers and magazines. In addition he is an accomplished lithographer and had a one-man show in 1940 at the Associated American Artist gallery. His prints are also in the collections of the Metropolitan and Whitney Museums, and he has illustrated many of Saroyan’s books. His satire on army life, It Shouldn’t Happen, was published in 1945. At present he is busy drawing and painting in California, where he lives with his wife and baby son.
