Dan Spiegle

$0.00

Original watercolor illustration by Dan Spiegle (1920 – 2017). Features Crossfire and Rainbow from his comic books series published by Eclipse in the 1980s. Measures approximately 10in X 16 in tall on illustration board. Dan did a number of these watercolor paintings when in “retirement” recounting the variety of characters he worked on in the comic book industry during his long career. This one is from 2006.

Crossfire was one of Dan’s favorite projects. He was also the long-running artist for the Space Family Robinson series. And prior to that, he was the artist on Hopalong Cassidy.

We believe that Dan Spiegle was one of the most original and prolific cartoonists of all time. His lengthy career includes numerous Disney live-action movie adaptations, tv adaptations, and a tenure drawing other well-known characters such as Scooby-Doo and The Hardy Boys.

Also, shown here is a cover of issue #20 (1987) of Crossfire from the Eclipse series for reference. And a book about Dan Spiegle, collecting several interviews and a checklist of his work, published by TwoMorrows Press in 2013 and featuring a similar-themed watercolor painting on the cover.
